These Healthy Baked Halloween Donuts are a fun and easy way to entertain the kids while making sure they don’t eat too much candy on Hallow’s Eve! I used white chocolate chips to make the teeth on these little monster donuts and protein powder to coat them in white. They are gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, and totally kid-friendly! =)

I am partnering with Earth Nutri for today’s recipe. All of the concepts, ideas, and visuals are my own.

For this entry, Earth Nutri asked me if I could make a Halloween recipe using their Organic Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour and “heck yes” I said!

This is not the usual type of recipe you will see on my blog, as my recipes are usually more practical and useful than crafty and fun, but this was an interesting project, and it obviously made the kiddos very, very happy!

How to Make Healthy Halloween Donuts

First, make 12 Gluten-Free Baked Chocolate Donuts. (Find the recipe in the recipe section down below.)

To decorate, you will need:

  1. White chocolate chips (You could also use freshly diced apple pieces for the teeth + eyes)

  2. Dark chocolate chips

  3. Vanilla protein powder

  4. A few goji berries

  5. 1/2 cup raspberry (fresh or frozen)

    Melt the Chocolate

Melt about 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips + 1/2 tsp coconut oil and 1/4 cup white chocolate chips + 1/2 tsp coconut oil in two separate containers. The best method is to use a double boiler to make sure not to burn the chocolate chips.

    Make the Eyes

Calculate the number of eyes you want to use for this project, and then select the same amount of white chocolate chips. Pick the ones which are the roundest, ideally. You will then chop the tip of every white chocolate chip you picked.

    Make the Red Syrup

Cook about 1/2 cup raspberries in a small saucepan over medium heat for 7-8 minutes. Mash them, then strain them using a fine-mesh strainer. Discard the seeds + pulp and keep the raspberry syrup. Optional: You could add 1-2 tbsp of any granulated sweetener to the raspberries when cooking them.

    Decorating your Halloween Monster Donuts

You will use the melted dark chocolate to glue the eyes and teeth on your monster donuts. Simply scoop a small amount of it anywhere you want to glue a piece (teeth, eyes, horns, tongue, etc.).

To make the pupils, use the tip of a toothpick or any small utensil to place a small drop of either dark chocolate or raspberry syrup. (The green pupils on the photos were made using an icing gel we had at home.)

I also glued some goji berries on some of the donuts to make a tongue and eyebrows.

I used vanilla protein powder to coat some of the donuts in white, and I used a ziplock bag, on which I cut a corner (small cut), to drizzle the white chocolate.
