Warning: these recommendations can make you healthier, happier and help you lose

unwanted weight!

Living a healthy conscious lifestyle does not mean you have to abstain from the little guilty pleasures once in a while. Balance is the key to having it all. The first step to avoid cravings is making a decision to living a healthy, happy life. Then you can set yourself up for success.

Like anything else in life, you will achieve success by having a structure that supports your commitment. One part of this equation is finding an expert advice or support system to help you keep on track. Knowing what to do and actually putting it into action will be easier once you have done preparation.

Here are 6 ways that will fast-track you towards a healthy conscious life by having you stay clear of junk foods and sugar.

1. Stop relating to Junk as Food!

Stop thinking that junk food and sugar is food! It really is not. If it doesn’t nourish your body and if it doesn’t keep you healthy then it’s not good for you and it really is not food. To expand this definition further, food is nothing that nature did not create.

All those pretty-looking-packaged-goods that you buy when you are hungry or when you have a craving for your favourite junk-food-galore accompanied by the superduper-double-triple-quadruple-chocolate-desert that is larger than your breakfast, lunch

and dinner, all put together is not food.

To apply psychology 101: condition yourself to a new relationship with junk food. Any time you see that nicely wrapped-garbage or anytime you start salivating or feeling the craving pangs over something that you enjoyed eating in the past, the new you can think of it as garbage. Literally. See it for what it is: Junk!

Think of junk food and sugar as non-edible items. The same way that you wouldn’t pick up your shoe, or your toilet bowl brush and start chewing on it, think of all the junk food and sugar in the same way: as non-food items. In addition to this new conditioning, help yourself by not going grocery shopping when you are hungry because you will be more inclined to wander into the junk food and sugar aisle.

2. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables

Before you say something like “yeah whatever” I already heard this many times over, just consider that knowing does not make a difference. Action does. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables will satiate you and provide your body with healthy nutrients to help it function optimally.

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables will feed the body with real food instead of stuffing yourself with toxic, fattening and indigestible stuff. When you are full on healthy, real and whole foods you won’t be hungry for junk. Guess what? You might actually enjoy discovering new foods that taste wonderfully delicious.

Try combining the favorites with not so favorites and build your acquired taste. There is plenty of healthy sugars in the fruits that the body can actually metabolize, therefore you will less likely crave unhealthy fats and sugars.

3. Find healthy Versions of Your Favourites.

Identify all those unhealthy junk food and sugars that you really enjoyed eating and find a healthy alternative. There are plenty of recipes out there. If you make sure to have your healthy favourites at home you won’t have to resort to a quick fix and grab a chocolate bar or stop by a fast food restaurant.

To give you an example: If your unhealthy craving is the junky kind of chocolate, you can either buy a healthy, unprocessed raw chocolate or make your own (Recipe Here: Homemade Dark Chocolate). It’s very simple. Combine raw cacao powder with your favourite nut butter and mix it with a ripe banana which will add plenty of sweetness. If that’s not enough, add a teaspoon of honey. Honey is a healthy kind of sweetener. Or coconut sugar. There are many options. Find your favourites.

4. 8×8 Rule.

Drink 8 glasses of 8 ounces of water daily. Water will not only keep you hydrated, help get the toxins out of the body and help oxygenate the cells but it will also fill you up -make you feel satiated so that you don’t feel the hunger or craving pangs. You have to remember that hydration does not mean drinking just any kind of liquids. Pop, alcohol and juice (unless freshly squeezed) all contain bad and processed sugars and are dehydrating you.

5. Consider a Detox.

Try going on a 3-day juice fast followed by day 4 of bentonite clay cleanse or colonics. If you have never done a cleanse, consult with a naturopathic doctor or another alternative medicine professional. This process will allow you to see how your body will keep eliminating toxins even days after you haven’t eaten any solids.

Stuffing yourself with junk food and sugar does not allow the body to eliminate toxins and repair the cells. The body is smart and knows to keep the garbage out. However, if it can’t eliminate all the toxins, it keeps storing it in “garbage bins” or cells containing all that garbage which over time can grow and become tumorous and worse: cancer.

6. Rules are meant to be broken

Don’t make this your favourite rule! Only if you are “good” at least 80% of the time you can afford to satisfy the craving once in a while. This does not mean go crazy for the remaining 20%. Try reducing your normal portion of the junk food and sugary food. Rather than being anxious and unhappy because you are forbidden to eat something allow yourself to enjoy what you like only occasionally and in moderation.

BONUS: 7. Exercise!

If your goal is to be healthy and fit, after you have worked hard on your exercise routine, you will less likely put junk food and sugar into your body. When you commit to your health and to leading a healthy lifestyle, exercise is an essential part of that pathway. Start with low intensity, shorter exercises and build from there.

If you start with high intensity, long duration workouts you might get discouraged and quit. Even if you stop the routine, start again and be consistent. Routine will become your super power. Listen to your body. Eventually, it will guide you to do things that are healthier. First, you have to train and condition it.

Don’t forget to live, love and be happy! At the end of the day everything is perception. You can see things as hard and impossible for you, or you can get inspired to make a change for yourself. Start today!
